School districts must pay the cost of one nationally recognized college entrance exam (ACT or SAT) for interested students in grades 11 or 12, effective for the 2018-2019 school year and later.

Students must be able to take the exam at their high school during the school day and at multiple exam administrations available in the district.

Districts may administer the ACT or SAT or both tests; if a student opts not to take the single test offered and chooses the other test instead, the student remains eligible for fee reimbursement.

Districts must waive the exam cost for any student unable to pay, regardless of free or reduced-price meal eligibility.

An unspecified amount from the general fund in fiscal year 2019 is appropriated to the Commissioner of Education to reimburse school districts for college entrance exam costs.
