Schools and educational institutions must conduct at least five fire drills each school year, with at least three being traditional drills that require students to evacuate the premises.

Schools and educational institutions may implement alternative fire drills that do not require students or other persons to quit the building, in addition to the required traditional drills.

All doors and exits must remain unlocked from the inside of buildings during school hours.

Fire drill records must be posted and available for state fire marshal review at all times, including the drill date and evacuation time if applicable.

Both sections become effective the day following final enactment.
