S.F. No. 2912 - General Assistance Eligibility Expansion

• Adds "families with children" as an eligible category for general assistance, establishing the MFIP transitional standard as the applicable assistance standard for this group.

• Expands eligibility to include persons who are unemployed and looking for work, and families with children ineligible for MFIP due to the 60-month time limit.

• Modifies assistance standards for childless single adults and families with children, with standards required to increase by the same percentage when other standards increase.

• Applies the MFIP transitional standard as the applicable standard of assistance for families with children receiving general assistance instead of the previous standard.

• Expands general assistance eligibility beyond individuals with medical or incapacity-related barriers to include able-bodied unemployed persons actively seeking employment.
