Amends Minnesota Statutes 2016, section 121A.22 to establish procedures for school districts to collect and transport unclaimed or abandoned prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications left in school possession.

Requires school districts to make reasonable attempts to return unused prescription drugs to students' parents or legal guardians before transportation and to transport unclaimed medications at least annually or more frequently as determined by the district.

Authorizes school districts to designate an individual to transport non-controlled prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications to designated drop-off boxes or collection bins, or to request law enforcement to do so on their behalf.

Prohibits school districts and school personnel from transporting controlled substances; requires school districts to request law enforcement to transport controlled prescription drugs to Drug Enforcement Agency-compliant collection bins or under the agency's transportation procedures.

Requires parents or legal guardians requesting school administration of non-controlled drugs to authorize the school district as an authorized entity to transport unused medications for destruction, and for controlled substances to specify the parent must retrieve the drug when requested.
