Modifies the definition of "marine carbon monoxide detection system" to require certification by a nationally recognized testing laboratory to conform to current UL Standards for recreational boats, replacing the previous reference to American Boat and Yacht Council Standard A-24 from July 2015.

Requires all motorboats with enclosed accommodation compartments to be equipped with functioning marine carbon monoxide detection systems installed according to manufacturer's instructions.

Eliminates the May 1, 2017 deadline for new motorboat sales, establishing that no new motorboat with an enclosed accommodation compartment may be sold or offered for sale in Minnesota unless equipped with a functioning system.

Specifies that carbon monoxide detection systems must be located to monitor the enclosed accommodation compartment atmosphere and positioned within ten feet (3.048 meters) of any designated sleeping accommodations.

Prohibits placement of carbon monoxide detection systems and sensors within five feet (1.52 meters) of any cooking appliance.
