Persons convicted of driving while impaired under section 169A.20 while operating a snowmobile or all-terrain vehicle are prohibited from operating such vehicles for one year.

The prohibition also applies to persons who refuse to comply with lawful requests to submit to breath or chemical testing under the implied consent law.

Operating a snowmobile or all-terrain vehicle while prohibited is a misdemeanor offense.

First-time DWI violators using off-road recreational vehicles or motorboats are subject only to criminal penalties and loss of operating privileges, not additional administrative sanctions under chapter 169A.

The bill becomes effective August 1, 2018, and applies to violations committed on or after that date.
