Require students beginning 9th grade in the 2020-2021 school year and later to complete one credit in government and citizenship during 11th or 12th grade as a high school graduation requirement.

Maintain the existing requirement of three and one-half total social studies credits, with the government and citizenship course counting as one of those credits.

Remove "government and citizenship" from the list of general social studies topics that must be covered across the three and one-half required social studies credits.

Add reporting requirement that the commissioner include in school performance reports the percentage of students who graduated in the previous school year and correctly answered at least 30 of 50 civics test questions.
