SF3785 - Decommissioned Military Vehicles Registration

• Allows registration of decommissioned military vehicles at least 20 years old as collector vehicles if owned by a nonprofit organization operated solely for historical or educational purposes.

• Vehicle must either conform to original military specifications or be restored to specifications for the model year it could have been military-owned.

• Owners pay a $25 tax and plate fee, receiving special "Collector" and "Minnesota" plates that are valid without renewal.

• Registered collector military vehicles may display military identification numbers instead of state registration plates on the exterior, but must carry state plates in or on the vehicle at all times.

• Exempts decommissioned military vehicles that were also manufactured and sold as civilian vehicles with identical dimensions and weight from the collector vehicle provisions.
