Amends Minnesota Statutes 2016, section 152.27, subdivision 4, to clarify that registered designated caregivers may simultaneously be enrolled in the medical cannabis registry program as patients.

Registered designated caregivers must be at least 21 years of age and agree to possess only the patient's medical cannabis for assistance purposes.

Designated caregivers cannot serve more than one patient unless the patients reside in the same residence.

The commissioner must conduct a criminal background check on designated caregivers to ensure they have no conviction for disqualifying felony offenses, with costs paid by the applicant.

Explicitly permits a person registered as a designated caregiver to also possess and use medical cannabis as a patient without restriction.
