A municipality may vote by resolution of its governing body to withdraw from the Iron Range fiscal disparities program.

Municipalities seeking withdrawal must notify the commissioner of revenue and administrative auditor of intent, then publish notice in an official newspaper at least two times between 30 and seven days prior to a hearing on the proposal.

Municipalities that vote to withdraw must forward a copy of the resolution to the commissioner of revenue and administrative auditor within seven days of passage.

Withdrawal becomes effective in the following taxes payable year if the resolution and notice are completed on or before May 1.

The provision is effective beginning with taxes payable in 2019.
