Requires one credit in civics as a high school graduation requirement for students beginning 9th grade in 2011-2012 school year and later.

Civics course must be completed in either 11th or 12th grade.

Civics credit counts toward the three and one-half social studies credits already required for graduation.

Removes "government and citizenship" as a separate social studies requirement, replacing it with the specific civics course requirement.

Maintains all other existing high school graduation credit requirements in language arts, mathematics, science, arts, and electives.
