Violations on a second or subsequent offense result in a fine of $225 plus the amount in the uniform fine schedule established by the Judicial Council.

Exceptions apply for hands-free communications, emergency calls to report accidents or prevent crimes, authorized emergency vehicles, and temporarily affixed devices used solely for navigation or audio content.
