Jessie Diggins of Afton, Minnesota won an Olympic gold medal in the women's team sprint freestyle cross-country skiing race on February 21, 2018 at the Pyeongchang Olympic Games.

Diggins and teammate Kikkan Randall became the first Americans to win an Olympic gold medal in cross-country skiing, defeating teams from Sweden and Norway with a winning time of 15:56.47.

Diggins won by 19 hundredths of a second over Sweden's Stina Nilsson after making a risky turn at nearly 30 miles per hour in the final stretch of the race.

This was the first American medal in cross-country skiing since Bill Koch won silver in 1976 and the first medal ever for American women in the sport.

The Minnesota Senate directs the Secretary of the Senate to prepare and transmit an enrolled copy of this resolution to Jessie Diggins.
