Commissioner of Health shall award grants to fund research studies on pharmacogenomics (PGx) testing evidence, including payer reimbursement support, validation of PGx variants in diverse populations such as Native Americans and Somali groups, and ethical and legal implications.

Grant applicants must submit applications including achievable objectives, work plan, budget, project communication plan, implementation timeline, privacy and security assessments, patient involvement plans, results documentation plans, and data exchange standards for sharing testing results.

Eligible grantees include persons, organizations, and entities with expertise in pharmacogenomics, expert data analysis capabilities in the pharmacogenomics market, and specialization in pharmacogenomic research.

Commissioner shall follow grants management protocols in Minnesota Statutes section 16B.97 and consult with interested parties including persons and public or private entities with pharmacogenomics expertise when awarding grants.
