Candidates on presidential nomination primary ballots must include those who file an affidavit of candidacy with a $5,000 filing fee and those nominated by petition with signatures from at least one percent of voters from the last state general election or 2,000 eligible voters, whichever is less.

Affidavits of candidacy filing period runs 84 days before the primary and closes 70 days before the primary.

Nominating petitions can be signed beginning 60 days before the filing period opens and ending 56 days before the primary.

Each major party ballot must include an option for voters to indicate preference for uncommitted delegates and a blank line for write-in candidates, with write-in candidates required to submit a request to the secretary of state no later than 46 days before the primary.

Removes previous authority allowing party chairs to determine which candidates appear on the ballot and submit their selections 63 days before the primary.
