School districts must screen all students for dyslexia beginning in kindergarten and no later than the beginning of grade 2.

School districts must screen any student in grade 2 or higher who is identified as not reading at grade level for dyslexia.

Districts must use screening tools recommended by the department's dyslexia specialist or other appropriate screening methods.

Districts must annually report to the commissioner by July 1 a summary of their dyslexia and convergence insufficiency disorder screening and identification efforts.

Students identified with dyslexia must be provided with alternate instruction under Minnesota Statutes section 125A.56, subdivision 1, effective July 1, 2019.
