H.F. 1819 Summary

• School districts and charter schools that canceled classes on January 29, 30, or 31, 2019 due to health and safety concerns may count those days as instructional days for calculating school year hours and average daily membership.

• School district employees who were scheduled to work on those dates but did not work and received no compensation must be either compensated at their normal rate of pay or given the opportunity to work an alternate day designated by the district at their normal rate of pay.

• The provisions override existing Minnesota Statutes sections 120A.32, 120A.41, and 126C.05 for the 2018-2019 school year.

• The effective date is the day following final enactment.
