Designates the Department of Administration as the state agency to accept federal funds for the State Historic Preservation Program under the National Historic Preservation Act.

Transfers administrative responsibilities for federal historical and archaeological data preservation (16 U.S.C. § 312501) from the Department of Administration to the Minnesota Historical Society.

Establishes the State Historic Preservation Office at the Department of Administration and requires state agencies to consult with it regarding historic and archaeological sites on public lands.

Requires the State Historic Preservation Office to share enforcement responsibilities with the Minnesota Historical Society and state archaeologist for archaeological and historic site protection.

Adds the State Historic Preservation Office as a member of the St. Anthony Falls Heritage Board and designates it as responsible for documentation standards for historic property designations.
