Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board must survey board-approved teacher preparation programs for elementary education, early childhood education, special education, and reading intervention to assess dyslexia instruction offerings

Board may consult with the dyslexia specialist at the Department of Education when developing the survey and reviewing program responses

Board must report findings to chairs and ranking minority members of legislative committees with jurisdiction over K-12 education policy and finance by January 15, 2020

Report must include information on teacher preparation program instruction regarding dyslexia screening, evidence-based instructional strategies for students with dyslexia characteristics, and best practices for assisting affected students and families

Section is effective the day following final enactment
