H.F. No. 2150 Summary

• Amends Minnesota Statutes section 151.37, subdivision 2, to allow telemedicine evaluations to satisfy the examination requirement for prescribing phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors (erectile dysfunction medications).

• Permits licensed practitioners to prescribe erectile dysfunction medications based on a documented patient evaluation conducted through telemedicine, as defined in section 147.033, subdivision 1.

• Maintains existing requirements that prescriptions for erectile dysfunction medications must be based on a documented patient evaluation to establish diagnosis and identify underlying conditions and contraindications to treatment.

• Applies only to phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors; other prescription categories requiring documented patient evaluations (controlled substances, muscle relaxants, opioid analgesics, butalbital-containing drugs) continue to require in-person examinations or prior examination documentation.
