Amends Minnesota Statutes section 550.37, subdivision 4 to modernize the list of household items exempt from creditor attachment by replacing "phonographs, radio and television receivers" with "radios, computers, tablets, televisions, printers, and cell phones."

Modifies the jewelry exemption to simplify language describing wedding rings and other religious or culturally recognized symbols of marriage, while maintaining the $2,940 aggregate value limit.

Creates new subdivision 27 exempting a debtor's aggregate interest up to $3,000 in hand and power tools, snow removal equipment, and lawnmowers.

Creates new subdivision 28 exempting a debtor's aggregate interest up to $1,250 in any property except earnings, providing a general catch-all exemption.

Requires debtors with household goods exceeding $10,800 in value to select the exempt property in writing at the time a loan is made to allow creditors to take nonpurchase money security interests in the excess.
