H.F. 2595 Summary

• Prohibits manufacturing, selling, offering for sale, or distributing food packaging in Minnesota to which PFAS (perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances) have been intentionally added in any amount.

• Defines "food package" as packaging intended to market, protect, or handle products for food contact or food storage, including containers, films, bags, trays, cups, and labels.

• Defines PFAS as a class of fluorinated organic chemicals containing at least one fully fluorinated carbon atom.

• Authorizes the Minnesota attorney general to enforce this section under existing statute.

• Becomes effective January 1, 2020.
