HF 2920 - Minnesota Athletic Trainers Act Modifications

• Adds new definition of "athletic training" encompassing prevention, wellness, risk management, emergency care, examination/assessment/diagnosis, and therapeutic intervention for emergent, acute, and chronic injuries and non-orthopedic conditions.

• Requires athletic trainers to perform services under direction, prescription, or collaboration with a licensed primary physician in good standing rather than only under physician supervision.

• Expands athletic trainers' scope to treat individuals beyond primary employment sites and allows evaluation/treatment of non-previously diagnosed individuals for up to 30 days or as designated by primary physician.

• Requires direct supervision by a licensed physical therapist when athletic trainers provide services represented as physical therapy in clinical, corporate, or physical therapy settings.

• Replaces references to "patient" and "athlete" with "individual" throughout the Athletic Trainers Act sections and repeals previous definitions of "athlete" and "athletic injury."
