Adds mental illness training as a requirement for Tier 1 license renewal, which teachers must complete within one year of initial license approval.

Requires Tier 2 license holders to complete mental illness training under section 122A.187, subdivision 6 before their first renewal.

Mandates at least one hour of suicide prevention best practices training in each licensure renewal period for all teachers renewing Tier 3 or Tier 4 licenses, based on nationally recognized evidence-based programs.

Initial mental illness training must cover key warning signs of early-onset mental illness in children and adolescents, while subsequent renewals must include understanding students' mental illness trauma, accommodations, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, autism, restrictive procedures, and de-escalation methods.

Exempts teachers in career and technical education or career pathways courses from the content examination requirement for Tier 1 renewal.
