Changes the Minnesota Board on Aging's authority from "shall" to "must" administer self-directed caregiver grants beginning July 1, 2019, in consultation with area agencies on aging and community caregiver stakeholders.

Grants support at-risk family caregivers of older adults or others eligible under the Older Americans Act of 1965 to enable older adults to remain at home longer.

The board must prioritize consumers referred under section 256.975, subdivision 7, paragraph (d).

Requires the board to submit a progress report by January 15, 2022, and annually each January thereafter to legislative committees with human services jurisdiction, including metrics on program use.
