Innovation zone partners with approved plans may request to replace one or more Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments administered in high school with a nationally recognized high school academic assessment.

Innovation zone partners must submit assessment replacement requests to the commissioner in the form and manner the commissioner determines.

The commissioner must request approval from the United States Department of Education under the most recent reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act within 60 days of receiving a request.

Innovation zone partners cannot implement the assessment change until approved by the U.S. Department of Education and the commissioner approves the amended plan.

Innovation zone partners must report assessment participation rates and other outcomes to the commissioner annually; this authorization expires June 30, 2025.
