Health plan companies must include amounts paid by enrollees or paid on their behalf by another person when calculating contributions toward an out-of-pocket maximum or cost-sharing requirement, to the extent permitted by federal law

Cost sharing is defined as any co-payment, coinsurance, or deductible

The requirement applies to health plans offered, issued, or renewed on or after January 1, 2021
