Appropriates $1,500,000 from the general fund to the Department of Education in fiscal year 2021 for the Girls in Action program grant.

$1,000,000 must sustain 16 current Girls in Action program sites and expand to four additional sites in inner ring suburban communities with growing ethnic diversity.

$500,000 must sustain three community-based Girls in Action programs for Asian, East African, and Latina girls in Hennepin, Ramsey, and Dakota Counties, and expand two additional community-based programs to reach Native American and African-American girls.

Funded programs must focus on increasing academic performance, high school graduation rates, postsecondary enrollment, mentoring, career development in STEM fields, support for sexual assault survivors, and financial literacy for low-income girls of color.

This is a onetime appropriation with any unspent balance in the first year available until June 30, 2023.
