School districts must provide homelessness prevention and life skills education as part of the grades 6 through 8 curriculum, with districts determining the appropriate grade level for instruction.

Education may include information on completing education, preparing for career or college, securing employment, managing finances, starting savings accounts, and identifying resources for homeless assistance.

Districts may develop a flyer containing information on homelessness resources, food shelf locations, homeless shelters, transportation options, and human resources information, encouraged for distribution in school counselor and nurse offices.

School districts may utilize teaching resources developed by national or local organizations dedicated to preventing homelessness or meeting immediate needs of students experiencing homelessness.

The requirement is effective beginning with the 2021-2022 school year and continuing thereafter.
