Municipalities must establish an election precinct and designate a polling place for any public college or university campus located within their boundaries.

If a campus spans multiple municipalities, each municipality must designate a separate precinct on the campus.

Each campus polling place must have ballots for all precincts located on the campus and for each adjacent precinct.

Requirements apply only to public colleges and universities operated by Minnesota State Colleges and Universities or University of Minnesota with enrollment of 5,000 or more students and on-campus student housing.

Effective date: January 1, 2021.
