Individuals performing backflow prevention testing or rebuilding no longer require a plumber's license if they complete prescribed training and obtain commissioner certification.

Backflow prevention rebuilders and testers must maintain certificates renewed every two years and are classified as entry-level licenses for fee calculation purposes.

Persons performing backflow prevention testing or rebuilding without a contractor's license remain subject to bond and insurance requirements of at least $25,000 bond and $50,000/$100,000 liability insurance.
