Department of Corrections or Federal Bureau of Prisons identification cards are now acceptable forms of proof of identity for applications for identification cards, instruction permits, or driver's licenses.

A valid corrections or federal prison ID card containing the applicant's full name, date of birth, photograph, and expiration date qualifies as a primary identity document.

Corrections or federal prison ID cards also serve as secondary documents for purposes of Minnesota Rules, part 7410.0400, and successor rules.

The bill amends Minnesota Statutes 2019 Supplement, section 171.06, subdivision 3, to integrate this new identification document option into existing driver's license and identification card application requirements.
