Persons 17 years of age or older must carry a valid state bicycle trail pass when operating a bicycle on state bicycle trails, with the pass available for inspection by peace officers and conservation officers.

Annual state bicycle trail passes cost $25 and are valid for one year from the date of purchase; daily passes cost $2 and are valid only for the designated date.

The commissioner of natural resources may appoint agents to issue and sell passes, with a $1 issuing fee per pass retained by the seller and issuing fees from the commissioner deposited into the state trails account.

A state trails account is created in the natural resources fund to receive revenue from pass sales, with funds appropriated to maintain and repair state bicycle trails.

Enforcement authority is granted to designated employees to issue citations for violations of the state bicycle trail pass requirement.
