Commissioners of health and education must jointly develop a plan requiring school districts to test for radon in public school buildings serving kindergarten through grade 12, including Minnesota State Academies in Faribault and Perpich Center for Arts Education in Golden Valley.

School districts must include radon testing as part of their ten-year facility plan and conduct testing according to standards established by the United States Environmental Protection Agency.

School districts that conduct radon testing must report results to the Department of Health and Department of Education in forms prescribed by the respective commissioners.

School districts must report test results at school board meetings, make results publicly available for review, and notify parents of the availability of the information; radon testing results are classified as public data.

Provisions are effective for the 2021-2022 school year and later.
