Owners of farmed Cervidae must immediately notify the Commissioner of Natural Resources if escaped animals are not returned or captured within 24 hours.

Owners are liable for expenses incurred by others in capturing, caring for, and returning escaped farmed Cervidae if the person captures them and contacts the owner as soon as possible.

The Commissioner of Natural Resources may destroy escaped farmed Cervidae after allowing the owner 24 hours to attempt capture.

Licensed hunters may kill and possess escaped farmed Cervidae lawfully without liability to the owner.

Farmed Cervidae must be identified with a distinct number, GPS technology or contact information visible at 50 yards; white-tailed deer by October 31 of birth year and elk/other cervids by December 31 of birth year; escaped animals killed or destroyed must be tested for chronic wasting disease at owner's expense.
