Amends Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 136A.1791, subdivision 1, to expand the teacher shortage loan forgiveness program to include nonpublic schools.

Modifies the definition of "school district" to explicitly include nonpublic schools (while excluding home schools) located in Minnesota.

Maintains existing definitions for qualified educational loans covering tuition and reasonable educational and living expenses for teacher preparation or further education.

Defines "teacher" as an individual holding a teaching license from the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board employed by a school district to provide classroom instruction.

Defines "teacher shortage area" as licensure fields and economic development regions with teacher shortages, including regions lacking licensed teachers who reflect the racial or ethnic diversity of students in the area.
