Inmates of county jails become eligible for state-funded medical assistance without federal financial participation if they meet other eligibility requirements under section 256B.055, subdivision 14.

Inmates of county jails become eligible for state-funded MinnesotaCare if all other MinnesotaCare eligibility requirements are met under section 256L.04, subdivision 12.

County boards may assist inmates of county jails in applying for medical assistance without federal financial participation and state-funded MinnesotaCare.

Security costs related to inpatient treatment of county jail inmates remain the responsibility of the entity with jurisdiction over the inmate.

Existing provisions regarding medical services costs, co-payments, prisoner reimbursement, and insurance subrogation rights for county boards remain in effect.
