Commissioner of administration issues grants to dental clinics to maintain operations and provide emergency dental care during a peacetime emergency declared related to COVID-19.

Eligible dental clinics must accept all patients needing emergency dental services regardless of financial status or insurance coverage and provide 24/7 access to a dentist with a published emergency phone number.

Once a dental clinic provides unreimbursed emergency services equal to 50 percent of its grant amount, it is no longer required to accept uninsured or underinsured patients.

Individual grants cannot exceed $10,000 per clinic, with priority given to critical access dental providers if applications exceed available funds.

$10,000,000 appropriated in fiscal year 2020 from the general fund as a one-time appropriation available until June 30, 2021; grantees must report patient numbers and service descriptions within 60 days of emergency declaration end.
