Students placed in foster care must be enrolled in school within seven school days of placement in their foster home.

Students whose foster home is in a different school district may remain enrolled in their prior district under existing law.

The commissioner of human services must include school enrollment data within seven days of placement in the annual report on children in out-of-home placement.

The annual report must include enrollment information by county and statewide, alongside other data on legal status, living arrangements, age, sex, race, and length of time in placement.

Out-of-home placement is defined to include placement in any facility by an authorized child-placing agency.
