Supervisors of temporary tattoo technicians must have at least 2 years of licensure as a tattoo technician in Minnesota or a reciprocal jurisdiction.

Supervisors of temporary body piercing technicians must have at least 1 year of licensure as a body piercing technician or have performed at least 500 body piercings.

Supervisors overseeing more than 2 temporary tattoo technicians or more than 4 temporary body piercing technicians must submit a supervisory plan to the commissioner detailing areas of practice, weekly supervision hours, training duration, and supervision methods.

Supervisors must notify the commissioner in writing within 14 days if a supervisory plan is terminated early and must provide an explanation.

The commissioner may refuse to approve a technician as a supervisor if they have been disciplined in Minnesota or another jurisdiction based on specified criteria.
