$200,000 appropriated in fiscal year 2021 from the general fund to the commissioner of employment and economic development for a grant to a Hennepin County organization to provide transitional housing options and referrals to community-based reentry services for individuals released from criminal custody.

$400,000 appropriated in fiscal year 2021 from the general fund to the commissioner of education for a grant to a Hennepin County organization to provide mentorship and personal development opportunities for boys in grades 6 to 12 and address trends of increased violence and decreased academic engagement.

All appropriations are one-time allocations totaling $1.5 million for organizations operating research-based interactive learning programs focused on personal empowerment and leadership.
