Appropriates $750,000 from the general fund in fiscal year 2021 to the commissioner of higher education for a grant to Black Men Teach Twin Cities.

Grant funds establish partnerships with eight school district elementary schools or elementary charter schools with a goal of reaching 20 percent black male teachers at each school site.

Unspent balance remains available until June 30, 2023.

Grant recipient must submit annual detailed reports to legislative committee chairs and ranking minority members by January 15 each year through 2026 describing fund usage and progress toward the 20 percent goal.

Effective date is July 1, 2020.
