Commissioner of labor and industry shall issue building-specific waivers for State Building Code elements that conflict with a recognized tribe's religious beliefs, traditional building practices, or established teachings.

Waivers apply only to traditional residential buildings for individual or organizational use, meeting houses, and one-room educational buildings.

Applicants must submit forms identifying the building, their tribe membership, and declaring how code requirements conflict with their tribe's religious beliefs or traditional practices.

Buildings granted waivers cannot be sold or leased unless brought into code compliance or the new owner/lessee obtains their own waiver.
