Commissioner of public safety shall convene a 911 telecommunicator working group consisting of the commissioner (or designee) and representatives from 12 organizations including police associations, sheriffs, fire chiefs, county and city leagues, tribal dispatchers, and emergency services boards.

Working group members must be appointed by July 1, 2020, and the commissioner must convene the first meeting by August 1, 2020, at which members will elect a chair.

Working group must submit a report to legislative committees with public safety jurisdiction by January 15, 2021, including recommended statutory definitions, minimum training and continuing education standards, certification standards, and funding options for 911 telecommunicator training.

Members serve without compensation, the commissioner of public safety provides administrative support, and the working group expires January 15, 2021.

Section becomes effective June 1, 2020.
