City of Eagan is permitted to deposit fire state aid in the city treasury rather than transmitting it directly to the Eagan Firefighters Relief Association if an agreement between the city and relief association is in effect.

Fire state aid received by the city must be disbursed either for employer contribution requirements under the public employees police and fire retirement plan or transmitted to the relief association in the amount specified by the agreement.

Supplemental aid received by the city must be transmitted to the relief association as required by law and may be credited against the city's payment obligation under the agreement.

If no agreement is in effect, fire state aid must be transmitted to the relief association consistent with Minnesota Statutes section 477B.04 and applicable law.

This provision expires when general legislation is enacted permitting allocation of fire state aid between volunteer firefighter relief associations and affiliated municipalities, nonprofit firefighting corporations, or joint powers entities; effective retroactively from January 1, 2020.
