Owners of farmed Cervidae must immediately notify the commissioner of natural resources if escaped animals are not returned or captured within 24 hours.

The commissioner of natural resources may destroy escaped farmed Cervidae after 24 hours, but must allow the owner an opportunity to capture them first.

Licensed hunters may kill and possess escaped farmed Cervidae in a lawful manner without liability to the owner.

Escaped farmed Cervidae killed by hunters or destroyed by the commissioner must be tested for chronic wasting disease at the owner's expense.

Farmed Cervidae identification must include a distinct number not used in the previous three years and either incorporate GPS technology or include contact information enabling identification of the owner, visible to the naked eye at 50 yards.
