S.F. No. 4512 - Dental Clinic Operating Grant Program

• Commissioner of administration shall issue grants to dental clinics to enable continued operations and provision of emergency dental care during peacetime emergencies declared by the governor related to COVID-19.

• Eligible dental clinics must accept any patient needing emergency dental services regardless of financial status or insurance and provide 24/7 access to a dentist with a published emergency telephone number.

• Once a dental clinic provides unreimbursed emergency services totaling 50 percent of the grant amount received, the clinic is no longer required to accept uninsured or underinsured patients.

• Individual grant amounts shall not exceed $10,000 per clinic, with priority given to critical access dental providers if applications exceed available funding.

• $10,000,000 is appropriated from the general fund in fiscal year 2020 for the grant program as a one-time appropriation available until June 30, 2021.
