Extends unemployment insurance benefits from the Minnesota trust fund to workers laid off due to COVID-19 by iron ore mining employers or suppliers to those employers.

Applicants must have established a benefit account with majority wages from iron mining industry employers and exhausted all available state or federal unemployment benefits.

Benefits are available for any week through March 31, 2021, and applicants must meet the same requirements as regular unemployment benefit applicants under Minnesota Statutes section 268.069.

Extended benefits are deferred until eligibility for federal unemployment benefits have been fully exhausted.

Effective the day following final enactment.
