MN SF62

Requires the superintendent of the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to investigate all peace-officer-involved deaths in Minnesota, defined as deaths resulting from a peace officer's use of force while on duty or performing law enforcement activities off duty.

Mandates the superintendent to file investigative reports with the county attorney and chief law enforcement officer of the agency employing the officer under investigation.

Establishes an exception: when a Bureau of Criminal Apprehension officer is the subject of investigation, the county sheriff where the death occurred shall conduct the investigation instead.

Adds new statutory section 299C.064 to Minnesota Statutes, creating definitions and procedures for peace-officer-involved death investigations.
