Board must prepare learning objectives by January 1, 2021, for preservice and in-service autism training covering autism overview, de-escalation strategies, crisis reduction models, and available tools and technology.

Board shall consult with individuals with autism, family members, autism experts, and peace officers when developing the learning objectives.

Learning objectives must be included in required curriculum for professional peace officer educational programs, with eligibility for licensing examination after July 1, 2021, contingent on receiving this training.

Beginning July 1, 2021, all state and local law enforcement agencies must provide in-service autism training consisting of at least four continuing education credits within each officer's three-year licensing cycle.

Law enforcement agencies must maintain written compliance records subject to board review; board may impose licensing sanctions and seek injunctive relief for noncompliance.
